National 4 Chemistry course detail

Chemistry National 4 consists of four Units, providing learners with the opportunity to develop and apply skills, alongside increasing their depth of knowledge and understanding.


To achieve Chemistry National 4, learners must pass all of the following:

  • A question paper for each of the three units
  • A short report on an application of chemistry
  • A lab report on an experiment carried out by the learner
  • An Added Value Unit Assignment

The Added Value Unit will be assessed by an SQA Assignment.
The National 4 qualification will not be graded, but will be granted on a pass or fail basis.
